90% of the slaves in Pakistan end up there over medical debts. They have no health insurance, so if they need treatment they have to pay cash for it. Being a largely impoverished country, these Christians are forced to borrow money from Muslim loan sharks to get the care they need that results in them being enslaved in the brick kilns. The kiln is setup to force those enslaved into a position where the debt can never be paid off and will continue to grow over the years. They are required to make 1000 bricks per day by hand and are subject to physical and sexual abuse to their entire family that they can do nothing about due to threat of execution. If one of these people or families becomes unable to produce bricks at a level that satisfies the kiln owner, they are also in jeopardy of execution. Many times before execution is set, the Muslim kiln owners will offer to forgive their debt if they will renounce Jesus as Lord, but our brothers and sisters in Christ stand firm in their faith even under the threat of death. We have 6 teams on the ground in Pakistan that visit different kilns each day feeding and ministering the Gospel to the slaves. With this in tact, we are able to closely monitor the families that are at the highest risk of severe abuse or execution. These families are our priority. First we pay off their debt through the high court of Pakistan which is a legal process that we have documentation for on each family we release. Second, we relocate the family, pay multiple months rent ahead of time, buy multiple months of food, and help them start a small business so they can be self sustaining. Lastly, we plug them into the local church body as well as a small group closer to their home. This is how we truly set them free forever and not just temporarily. In addition to all of that, we also now fund a small medical clinic that is actively providing healthcare to the Christians in Pakistan so that they do not take loans and become slaves.
